Job Description

Who we are:

Tayto Group Ltd is a major player in the snack industry, known for producing iconic and flavoursome products. You’ll be familiar with our Golden Wonder, REAL, TAYTO and Mr Porky brands, but we’re also a leading supplier of private label! With a rich heritage spanning decades, we are, and have always been, committed to delivering quality and innovation with every bite!

We couldn’t do what we do without our dedicated Engineering Teams and due to continued success and development we have opportunities for Senior Maintenance Technicians to join our fast-paced site in Scunthorpe!

About the role:

The overall focus of the role will be to work seamlessly as a team to not only maintain, but also improve the site equipment.

Taking direction from your Lead Technician, or the Maintenance Manager, this role will consist of a healthy mix of both mechanical and electrical works, including maintenance and repairs to conveyors, fryers, bagging machinery, slicing and flavouring equipment. You’ll be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance and offer insights surrounding reliability and continuous improvements to ensure optimum output is maintained.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on a variety of food processing machinery
  • Fabricate and machine components as required
  • Conduct any repairs or modifications to machinery
  • Fit and assemble mechanical components during reactive or preventative maintenance tasks
  • Work closely with the team to ensure minimal disruption to downtime across the site
  • Carry out electrical fault-finding and root cause analysis to identify reoccurring issues
  • Liaise closely with the Maintenance Manager and Site Engineering Manager regarding potential issues and rectification methods

What we’ll need from you:

  • A recognised Engineering qualification, whether that is an NVQ Level 3, BTEC, Time-Served Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent
  • Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ideally a food processing factory, but this isn’t essential
  • Experience working with conveyors and packaging machinery. Experience working with fryers would be a huge advantage but isn’t essential
  • Demonstrable experience in both electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repairs

This is a site-based role operating on a 4on 4off shift pattern – Two daysTwo nights, 4 off (0600-1800/1800-0600) and is commutable from: Doncaster, Gainsborough, Brigg, Goole, Barton-Upon-Humber, Hull and Caistor.

We’ll provide you with all the tools to learn, develop the role and yourself and will support with additional training needs where required, inclusive of external providers and OEM training.
