Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Group Potato Supply Chain Manager, the role is currently flexibly  based between our Corby and Scunthorpe sites with an element of working from home, there will also be significant travel in the UK, NI and Europe.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsibility for maintaining and building a sustainable supply chain of the 90,000 tonnes of produce used in the manufacture of crisps and snacks
  • Driving efficiencies, being the conduit between the suppliers and Tayto stake holders in potato & vegetable raw materials
  • Ensure that relationships within Tayto supply base and wider agriculture are maintained with a view to making Tayto a preferred customer
  • Working within the produce (potatoes and vegetables) sector understand it and how to manage its nuances daily weekly monthly
  • Building effective relationships with farmers & suppliers in a commercial orientated environment, understand the influences faced upstream and enable Tayto’s suppliers to operate effectively in a dynamic market place
  • Understanding growing costs and impact of the wider agriculture commodities market communicate these to key decisions makers during contract negotiations
  • Monitoring/reviewing contract compliance report on this to the wider stakeholders within Tayto, benchmark these against all suppliers
  • Ensure the correct raw materials at the correct time to make the correct product in the correct format
  • Being proactive and manage the supply chain to move and adapt to change before it happens
  • Drive costs and cost reduction initiatives into the supply chain

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Experience of working within the potato sector
  • Demonstrable experience within the potato /vegetable production arena
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder
  • Ability to impact and influence
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team as well as independently
  • Experience of product development within a food environment
  • Experience of working alongside Brand Managers and / or Retail Technologists
  • Advanced IT skills including Excel
  • Budgeting experience and reporting on budget at senior levels direct to the CEO/CFO
  • Experience of tendering/contracting/procurement process and the ability to report the findings in written format to enable key decisions to be made correctly and timely by Tayto’s CFO.
