Mr. Porky hits the bullseye at Pro-Retail

Mr. Porky and his friend paid a visit to this year’s Pro-retail Show at the Telford International Centre.

Pro-retails is the largest independent retail exhibition in the UK.  Now in its 24th years, the three-day event was held from April 29th to May 1st and attracted around 6,500 independent and multiple retailers.

A special bar-themed stand was home to Mr. Porky and his snacks, along with other products from his parent company, Red Mill Snack Foods.  The bar had its own dartboard, hand pulls, beer mats and snack displayers.  There was even a Nintendo Wii console and darts video game, which was later given away in a prize draw.

Red Mill also invited Mr. Porky’s favourite darts player, Peter Manley, to help promote the snacks to visitors.  The brand is sponsoring Peter for the duration of the 2008 season, and he caused a stir in his now famous bright pink darts shirts.

Sarah Nunn, Red Mill’s marketing and sales controller, said: “The exhibition was a great opportunity for us to showcase our latest developments and shout about our link with professional darts.

Peter was a real hit, taking time out from his busy schedule to sign autographs, share storeis about his career and throw a virtual dart or two.”

“The number of visitors to Pro-retails year after year ensure that the exhibition continues to be a top priority for us.  It has become the place for those in the retail industry to pick up new ideas, find out about product innovations and communicate with suppliers.”
